At Irvine Company, we’re committed to investing in a better tomorrow for the customers and communities we serve. From energy efficient workplace design to open space conservation, sustainability has been a guiding value at Irvine Company for more than 150 years.
Our workplace communities benefit from comprehensive management of their energy usage. We have ongoing programs to reduce our energy consumption while maintaining an optimal work environment including high-efficiency lighting retrofits and advanced metering and tracking to minimize energy consumption and optimize performance. Our proactive approach to water conservation and innovative water recycling systems save more than 209 million gallons of water each year.
We also believe that sustainability must extend beyond the immediate building and address the needs of the greater community. For example, our over 500 electric vehicle charging stations and extensive bike share program help to minimize the carbon footprint of our community and its visitors.
We’re proud to be nationally recognized as the top owner of LEED and Energy Star Certified office buildings in the state of California – but we believe more can always be done.
As the first major real estate company in the world to create a portfolio of 21 office buildings utilizing energy storage, no idea is too big. We’ve partnered with Advanced Microgrid Solutions to power the world’s first fleet of hybrid-electric office buildings. Our current initiative reduces peak energy demand by 25% and provides enough reserve capacity to power 10,000 homes. This project benefits not only our building but also the local community by helping to improve electricity grid reliability and the use of solar and wind energy.
As technology advances, we strive to be at the forefront, setting a new standard for what’s possible in sustainable workplace design. By boldly embracing continuous innovation, we can make what is exceptional today even better tomorrow– for our customers, our communities, and our planet.
